Cake Mix Apple Cobbler
Way back years ago when Who Needs A Cape? first started, one of my very first recipe posts was Cake Mix Cherry Cobbler. An easy-to-make “dump” dessert that basically involves a can of pie filling and a box of cake mix. Well, it has proven to be incredibly popular through the years. So I figured, “Hey, why not make a different version?”. Lightbulb moment I tell ya!
Today I bring to you Cake Mix Apple Cobbler, equally as easy to make as Cake Mix Cherry Cobbler, and every bit as delicious. With just a few pantry items and one refrigerated item, you’ll be on your way to gobbling up dessert without much prep work.
“Dump” desserts are essentially just that, you pour ingredients into a pan and with minimal effort, resulting in a tasty dessert. Homemade from scratch desserts are amazing, don’t get me wrong. Often though with busy schedules and just life in general, time-saving recipes are often the go-to recipes.
What is a cobbler anyway?
A cobbler is a dish consisting of a fruit or savory filling poured into a large baking dish and covered with a batter, biscuit, or dumpling before being baked. In my version, the “batter” comes from a cake mix, butter, and oats combo.
Using cake mix in the “batter” of this cobbler is a quick and easy way to get a similar to made from scratch cobbler topping without a lot of effort or ingredients. I promise it is really yummy.
