In Michigan, we have had some ups and downs with the weather this spring. Big shocker, right? I mean our state is shaped like a winter mitten after all.
To be completely honest, there hasn’t been an abundance of great grilling weather…yet. This didn’t stop me from getting my burger on. I’ll share with you how I made my burger in a minute.
Today I’m introducing my addition to #BurgerMonth a delicious Creamy Olive Spread Topped Burger. You know the acronym KISS (keep it simple stupid/sweetie), this is how I would describe how this burger creation came to be.
I love green olives, I do I do I do! There’s a small chain of burger joints in Michigan named Halo Burger. Their Olive Burger is something that I remember stopping to get once in blue moon. The name says it all, green olives along with traditional burger toppings made this burger over the top great.
Slapping sliced green olives onto a burger didn’t appeal to me. So I came up with a SIMPLE, remember that acronym, my friends? A 3 ingredient spread that can top any burger of your choice.
The spread has saltiness from chopped green olives and a creamy texture that is perfect for slathering onto a burger. If you aren’t a fan of green olives, I suppose this recipe might not appeal to you. Just keep scrolling, and enter the giveaway while you are here.
Remember me mentioning our lack of great grilling weather? I decided to give my favorite small kitchen appliance a try for making burgers, my air fryer!!! And ya know what? In a pinch, it really did the trick in a flash.
Of course, I’d prefer to grill burgers on the grill but I’m happy to say an air fryer burger is definitely possible. I’ll include directions in the recipe card below.
One of the sponsors of #BurgerMonth is Cabot Cheese, they sent me a lovely variety of their high-quality cheeses. I choose to use sliced Cabot Colby Jack cheese on my burgers, it was a perfect choice. Be sure to check out their website, you won’t believe some of the cheese options they offer.
What do you need to make a Creamy Olive Spread Topped Burgers?
- Ground beef
- Buns
- Butter
- Salt and Pepper
- Cabot Colby Jack Sliced Cheese

Some tips for making Creamy Olive Spread Topped Burgers:
- If you’d like a thinner sauce vs. a spread, add in a touch more milk.
- Spice it up! You can buy green olives stuffed with jalapeΓ±os.
- As I mentioned above, I used my air fryer. By all means, you can cook your burgers on the grill, no problem.
- If using an air fryer, times and temp may vary.
