Patriotic No-Bake Cake Batter Truffles
Well, I needed a version for a Memorial Day barbeque. What else can I say? So without further ado, I present…Patriotic No-Bake Cake Batter Truffles!
These bite-sized All American gems are the perfect addition to parties celebrating our good old Red, White, and Blue. Whether it be for Memorial Day or July 4th, there’s no denying these will be gobbled up in no time. They are always a huge favorite at parties and gatherings if you have the time be sure to double the recipe.
Have you happened upon the original version of these beauties? If not, I’ll share that with you now as it is the inspiration and also our most popular dessert on Who Needs A Cape?
Creating this version I came up with a super-easy substitution of cake flavor (strawberry) and a bit of red coloring. I tend to hoard different kinds of sprinkles and jimmies, so it gave me a chance to dig into my arsenal of goodies, too.
I’m sure you will come up with your own creative spin when you make these too! Have fun and celebrate with these truffles, everyone will thank you…trust me!

Can you substitute fresh/frozen strawberries instead of the cake mix and puree that?
I’m assuming you mean to use regular cake mix, but flavor it with real strawberries? There isn’t a whole lot of liquid in this recipe, but you could probably substitute some of the milk with the strawberry puree. And, the strawberries would add natural red coloring so you may not need much if any red coloring. I’m very curious how this would work so if you decide to try it, come back and let me know! 🙂
I meant make my own cake mix. Since cake flour is already a part of the recipe and cake mix is just more flour, strawberry flavor and leavening (baking soda or powder I’m assuming), I’m wondering if I can just use strawberries and some extra flour since I don’t think baking soda/powder will matter since there’s no baking. I could be wrong, I just didn’t know if someone had tried that before. I’m looking to try & make it more natural.

Yes, absolutely! When I made these, I didn’t have RV on hand so strawberry it was. 😀

Just made these last night for a 4th of July party, and I can’t believe how easy they were!!
I made the original cake batter truffles and just used food coloring. Just make sure you sprinkle them one at a time after they’re coated, not when they’re all done, because it sets quickly (I missed that ESSENTIAL part ). As for the taste, just like cake batter!! I’m sure they’ll be a hit, especially with the kids 😉. Thanks again, definitely coming back to try out more goodies, YUM!
