Sometimes you just need comfort food and Goulash will remind you of moms cooking, maybe even grandmas. Delicious and easy, perfect weeknight meal.
Goulash
Goulash is one of my go-to comfort foods. My mom made it, my grandma made it and my aunts make it.
I’m not sure if mine is quite as good…I have asked for a recipe and they laughed at me. Literally Laughed at me!
It’s one of those recipes where everyone has their own blend of spices that they used, but they have never ever written it down! I mean honestly.
I’ve tried to get mine to be as close as possible to the original – I can tell you that my husband gobbles this up so I must be doing something right in it!
Goulash is also a favorite of me and my family because it’s pretty easy to make. Brown beef, cook some noodles and add a few tomatoes and spices.
Dinner can be on the table in no time and that’s my kind of weeknight dinner! How about you? We all have those busy evenings when we can’t quite get it together – Goulash to the rescue!
Plus the leftovers make a great lunch for the next day! WOOHOO!

Finally! There *are* other people out there who call this Goulash! I grew up on this stuff, that almost everyone I’ve met calls Chili Mac. Not the same thing, hello! Thanks for the memories, so appropriate for Mother’s Day too, as I seem to be tripping over reminders of my Mom today, may she RIP. 🙂

I made this today. Left out the tomato paste because I did not have any. I thinks it is a Great tasting recipe and I know that I will make this again.

Goulash is one of my favourite meals because my dad made it all the time. It tastes good every time, he’d make a huuuuuuuuge 5 gallon pot of it and we’d have leftovers for days. I moved out a year ago and after a visit, he sent my brother home with some and I nearly cried eating it because it just tastes like home. We use macaroni noodles or the shell noodles and my dad adds ketchup and certain herbs to the meat.

I made this with prego roasted garlic and herb tomato sauce and love the way it came out delicious

I make goulash a little differently. My dad was from Kansas and he used to make it for me and my sisters and then for his 7 grandsons when they would come and visit him and mom in the summers. He added onions and green peppers. Everything else is about the same. Just made it last week as my oldest son came for dinner and requested it.

YESSSSS – I love green peppers and onions in goulash 😉 Honestly I put them in sometimes – depends on the mood! something else fun is throwing in some corn 😉
