Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

I’ve partnered with Idahoan on this sponsored post and all opinions stated are my own.

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak gives you comfort food without tons of work. It’s delicious and you will make it over and over!

Let’s talk about dinner time. UGH! I am so busy right now (aren’t we all?) that dinner is my least favorite because I feel scrambled. So out comes the handy Slow Cooker to save me from drowning in Pizza Bills! Then, depending on the meal, I feel like I have to make a side dish…In comes Idahoan Signature Russets Mashed Potatoes. Keep reading you’ll find out how my delish slow cooker dinner came out PERFECT with my new favorite Side Dish!

Side dishes are hard for me – I’m actually the worst at them. Sometimes I just throw a loaf of bread at my family and say “use this”. Having Idahoan Signature Russets Mashed Potatoes? It’s a game changer for sure. Within 5 minutes I had a completely LOVELY side dish to go with my Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak (I have more about that divine dinner in a minute). I followed the instructions on the package and was so pleasantly surprised – they taste like I made my own mashed potatoes. Even my husband thought so and he is kind fussy pants! Want to get your own? Well start checking your Kroger or Walmart (or whatever store you shop at) because they came out September 19 of this year. You’re going to LOVE them and LOVE how easy they are!

Something like Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak is the perfect meal for any night, but I chose to make it for Sunday Dinner. I mean YUM. I promise you this is a direct quote from my husband, “Heather this is the best meal you’ve made in a long time”. I love him. And I agree with him. What made it nice is that I didn’t spend all day in the kitchen to get that fantastic taste – the recipe is pretty simple. I had it in the slow cooker in about 15-20 minutes and then I had the potatoes done in 5. It was a TRUE Sunday Dinner with Mashed Potatoes and all. YUM YUM YUM.

If by chance you’re making this as a slow cooker meal to cook while you are at work? I would prep it the night before and have the patties in the slow cooker in the fridge. In the morning take the slow cooker bowl out of the fridge plug it in and let Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak cook while you’re at work! YUM.

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

  • 2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 1 package dry onion soup mix
  • 1/2 C bread crumbs (I used Italian Seasoned for more flavor)
  • 1/4 C milk
  • flour
  • Vegetable Oil
  • 2 Cans cream of mushroom soup
  • 1-2 onions quartered
  • 1 C fresh mushrooms sliced (or 1 can of canned mushrooms)
  • 1 pkg dry au jus mix
  • 3/4 C water

  1. Mix together beef, onion soup, bread crumbs and milk (I used my hands) and form 8 patties
  2. Heat up a small amount of vegetable oil in pan
  3. While oil is heating up sprinkle flour on both sides of patties
  4. Quickly brown patties in oil (30seconds to 1 minute on each side) and place in slow cooker (I made a pyramid of sorts with my patties)
  5. Top patties with onions and mushrooms
  6. Mix together remaining ingredients and pour into slow cooker on top of patties
  7. Cook on Low for 4-6 hours (until ground beef is cooked through)

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak is the PERFECT meal. So good and amazing comfort food!
