Jumbo marshmallows and gummy worms come alive in Wormy Marshmallow Monsters. This fun and ooey Halloween Treat is a great treat for parties!
Wormy Marshmallow Monsters
I stopped into Target after I dropped my kids off for their first day of school last week. As I was leisurely strolling the aisles in kidless bliss I watched as employees piled the last few remaining school supplies (like 16 glue sticks and 3 folders, that’s all that was left) into one small bin.
As those items were whisked away out came all the Halloween decor and costumes. There I was just relishing the early moments of my kids being back in their classes and in a quick blink of the eye, we’re onto the next holiday.Last year at this time I had the pleasure of participating in 30 Days of Halloween. This is a fun blogger event hosted by the talented Allison Miller from Cupcake Diaries.
Once again I’m participating and cannot believe how great the Halloween inspired recipes that my fellow bloggers have shared thus far. In 2016 I included Swamp Potion into the celebration, this is a fun family-friendly beverage that’s perfect for spooky entertaining.
Without further ado, I present my addition to the 2017 round:
Wormy Marshmallow Monsters
These fun squiggly creations aren’t overly scary, they are perfect for parties with younger kids. You simply take those JUMBO campfire marshmallows you know the ones…the REALLY big guys!
Next, you take some dissected (cut up) gummy worms and insert them into the marshmallows. Now, this can be a tiny bit tricky, here’s what I did.
I took a metal BBQ skewer, the ones you use for kabobs. I inserted the metal skewer into very hot water to heat the end, then inserted it into the marshmallow just far enough to make an opening to push a cut gummy worm into securely.
The worm will dangle out of the marshmallow. Ooze was then added from a store-bought green frosting tube. Two dissected gummy worms are placed on the top of the marshmallow. Add a touch of green frosting to the very end and add candy eyes. TADA..there you have ’em WORMY MARSHMALLOW MONSTERS!
Feel free to add your own creative touches, making them creepier if you desire. We kept ours fun and only “slightly” creepy as my kids are young and I like them to sleep at night! *wink wink*
Now be sure to scroll all the way down to find other additions to the 5th annual 30 Days of Halloween. Thanks to Allision Miller of Cupcake Diaries for organizing, this is such a fun event!

- Use green icing in tube to make ooze coming off top of marshmallow.
- Insert 2 cut gummy worm pieces into top of marshmallow. Use small dot of icing on very top of gummy worm to attach edible eyeballs.
