Discovery Land at the Meijer LPGA Classic is a family-friendly area full of great activities. My kids had a fun time exploring the entire area.
Discovery Land at the Meijer LGPA Classic
Our family had the pleasure of spending some time exploring Discovery Land at the Meijer LPGA Classic which recently was held in Belmont, Michigan at the Blythefield Country Club. It was the perfect place to find your inner child and relax a little in between catching the activities out on the greens.
The Meijer LPGA Classic is a women’s professional golf tournament in Michigan on the LPGA Tour. Each of the week’s festivities benefits the Meijer Simply Give program. The Simply Give program restocks the shelves of food pantries across the Midwest.
During the 2019 Meijer LGPA Classic, $1.1 million was raised! This money will aid Simply Give in supporting local food pantries in the communities served by Meijer stores.
Discovery Land gives kids an opportunity to have some fun in an enclosed area dedicated to the youngest golf fans. With many fun events scheduled throughout the event, it was a must visit location on the course.
During the course of the Meijer LPGA Classic, Discovery Land offered TEM Programming run by the STEM Squad at Camp Blodgett and even autograph sessions with LPGA players.
We enjoyed being in the middle of the Meijer LPGA Classic and exposing our girls to an event especially for female athletes. You never know what seed was planted exposing them to golf at this great event.
Within a large building, the offerings of Discovery Land immediately surrounded our family. The first stop for us was some fancy hairdo’s inspired by the movie Trolls.
What’s not to love about a little glitter spray? The hairstylists were friendly and made us feel right at ease as the transformations were underway.
The setting was brightly colored and made us feel like we were there in the Trolls movie. Some fun tattoos were offered, along with hairstyling.
Racquel opted for some volume to be added to her Troll inspired do, so much fun! Our stylists were fun, friendly and ready to please.
Ta-da! Now that we’re all glittered and sprayed with fun colors, time to see what else Discovery Land had to offer. Off we go!
There’s nothing this girl enjoys more than Play-Doh! Don’t let her face fool you, she was actually in disbelief that she could just hang out and create with good old fashioned Play-Doh! Plus she got to take some home too…BONUS!
Once we rounded the corner after Play-Doh time, we found a merchandise area. Every child could choose 2 items to take home! Oh, the choices!!!
Hands-on fun to be had at every turn! Everything you need to unwind awhile! Pick a spot and find something to entertain yourself. The choices were perfect for all ages. Building toys, games, and craft supplies were just some of the fun choices.
With fun props of all sorts, they had a fantastic time within the Barbie area. I had no idea Barbie had a big birthday in 2019. Happy Birthday Barbie!
Right before leaving the indoor portion of Discovery Land the girls chose some refreshments. A huge selection of yummy treats was provided too. Everything from ice cream, juice boxes, yogurt tubes, and granola bars. Plenty of hand sanitizers and wet hand wipes provided too! They thought of everything!
The outside area of Discovery Land offered a Nerf area to practice your target skills. There were plenty of choices for big kids and little kids to give it a try.
Outdoor skill games were available to play. Corn hole equipment, hula hoops and loads of toddler ride on toys gave little ones the perfect playtime. And just look at that wooden play structure! So cute!
Now to hone those “hole in one” skills a 40′ long putting experience complete with sand traps! After watching the players on the course, everyone wanted their own chance to give it a try.
Oh hey, look who we met! Some familiar characters from Paw Patrol came to say hello. Hi Chase!
Next, we were introduced to Skye from Paw Patrol! I heard Sponge Bob was making an appearance too, but alas we missed him.
My kids are older, but if I had younger kids the Kimberly-Clark Family Care Area would have been a very welcomed sight. Inside they provided an air-conditioned area providing private lactation stations, diaper changing stations, and free diapers and wipes. What a thoughtful addition to a family-friendly area.
We had a really great visit to Discovery Land at the Meijer LPGA Classic. It was fun watching our girls hang out and experience fun activities after watching some very talented players on the course. We’ll definitely be back in 2020 to see what Discovery Land at the Meijer LPGA Class has to offer.
