Pumpkin Energy Balls were a little experiment of mine – I wanted to see how far I could push my kids into eating something healthy. Um…my boys LOVED these little balls. I’m not kidding. I put them in their lunch and they were begging for more (which reminds me if you’d like a bunch of these – double or triple the recipe – it doesn’t make a LOT…but they are so easy to make that it’s not a big deal to make more!).

So getting back to my story – I’m trying to get back into the habit of having really yummy and really good for you things in my boys lunch box or sitting around for them after school. BUT they are fussy little men. I mean fussy. So it has to taste amazing. And Pumpkin Energy Balls really did.


A couple of notes. I used the pumpkin more for health benefits than flavor. These are NOT SUPER PUMPKINNY! Just be aware – super yum but it’s not a Pumpkin Spice Latte. You could do some adjusting of flavors/ingredients if you’re really dying for that amazing pumpkin flavor (adding some pumpkin spice might help), but I’m leaving well enough alone – we really enjoyed these flavors.

Note 2 – I used my food processor. You could probably use a mixer but the food processor just made it quick and easy.

Note 3 – yes I know these have chocolate in them. I’m willing to hide some healthy in a bit of chocolate every once in a while!

Pumpkin Energy Balls are going to knock your socks off. I promise. Writing this made me realize that I need to go make another batch! (PS try them for a breakfast on the go too!)

Pumpkin Energy Balls

Pumpkin Energy Balls


  • 1 1/2 C Oatmeal
  • 1/4 C Peanut Butter
  • 1/2 C Pumpkin Puree
  • 1/4-1/2 C Chocolate Chips
  • 1/4 C honey


  1. Place all ingredients into your food processor.
  2. Pulse until all ingredients are well mixed
  3. Form into balls
  4. I refrigerated mine before serving (at least an hour)
  5. Store in fridge
