I admit I am well weird. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fall and all it represents…except for gross Halloween Parties. I do NOT want to put my hand in a bag and feel spaghetti acting as brains or grapes pretending to be eye balls. I like the Halloween that is cute, fallish and fun. So when I heard about BOO’ing people? I was in. FINALLY my boys would get to have a Halloween Party. I threw a BOO Party and I’m here to tell you ALL about it!
Is anyone with me? You want to celebrate Fall and all it’s wonderful deliciousness but you have no interest in gross? I can’t be alone here!
When I heard that MARS/Wrigley had this AMAZING idea of doing BOO Bundles – I was in. It’s such a fun idea. It’s basically a Halloween Pay It Forward kind of idea but instead it’s #BOOItFORWARD. I’m going to walk you through Step by Step of how to create your own BOO Bags for your friends/neighbors/teachers. It’s such a cute (and simple) idea, and NO MORE gross parties at all. I was SOLD!
So, instead of just making one #BOOItFoward bag, we decided to have a party so we could kick start our community into BOO’ing. We have a pretty small community so having 10 people BOO’ing their friends? It spreads like Wildfire!
I went down to Walmart. I can hear you. Heather what’s the big deal? Well…I went to Walmart and I got EVERYTHING I NEEDED. Yup, everything to host a little party, everything to make BOO Bags, and probably a few extra things. I don’t like running all over town. I like to go and get. Mars Wrigley have GREAT bags of mixed treats from chocolate favorites (like M&M’s®, SNICKERS®, TWIX®, MILKY WAY®, 3 MUSKETEERS®) to fruity sweets (like SKITTLES®, STARBURST®, and LIFESAVERS®). I like them both so both I bought. And of course everything would have to be washed down with Delish A&W (or hey I bought Sunkist® and Canada Dry Ginger Ale too). Enough for a fun feast don’t you think?
WAIT – stop the presses – there’s a COUPON! WOOHOO Click here to Save $2.00 on on ONE (1) 6pk 8oz Cans or TWO (2) 2L and 2 bags of Mars® Candy! Now you HAVE to do a BOO Party!
So on to my fun BOO Bags. It was so easy to party plan around making these BOO Bags. Not only did I buy the fun MARS/Wrigley treats to go inside, but they looked great on my buffet so win on that one. Here’s how to start this in your neighborhood:
Invite 10 people (or 10 moms with their kiddos) over. Head to Walmart and pick up a variety of fun Halloween/Fall fun things. Don’t forget to include everyone’s favorite candy’s (or at least my favorites of M&M’s®, SNICKERS®, TWIX®, MILKY WAY®, 3 MUSKETEERS®, SKITTLES®, STARBURST®, and LIFESAVERS®). Buy a fun bag for everyone to fill.
I Printed out fun things for kids to do and included them in my bags. We planned on giving our bag to a teacher friend (again small community – one of my kids teachers!) so we thought it would be fun for her to share with her class. Even if you’re not giving them to a teacher – all kids like new paper activities.
Strike a balance between Halloween fun candy treats and Halloween Fun to include in your bags. Once you have all your goodies to place in bags, make a “buffet of BOO Bag Goodies”. When your guests show up, they grab a bag, go through the line and fill their bags. It’s so easy even the smallest kid can do it, but everyone will LOVE doing it and sharing it. As I said earlier it’s definitely #BOOITFORWARD.
The cutest part is displaying your “We’ve Been BOO’d” card. It does a couple of things – 1 it lets your neighbors know that you’re already in on it and 2 it sparks conversation with those that don’t know what it means. Direct them to get their own FREE Printable BOO Kit here! It’s so easy. To make your own easy BOO Kit (we made these at our BOO Party as well) all you need to do is Print the BOO Kit and:
- Cut out this “We’ve been BOO’d sign.
- Fold the “You’ve been BOO’d” greeting card (page 2) and tape openings together.
- Include the card and sign when gifting BOO bags
Don’t worry, instructions are there when you print as well.
Are you getting how simple this is? It’s so easy to spread the Halloween fun around. Have a MARS/Wrigley BOO Party made my kids die with joy. They love this stuff and honestly? So did I.
Don’t forget to enter the #BOOITFORWARD Sweepstakes!!!! It will help you get your BOO Bag going. If you’re having a party like I did, have everyone get out their phones right there to enter.
One more really fun thing to really set off the mood for your BOO Bag – I included a mum plant. I used a pencil to hold the BOO Card. You could display the We’ve Been BOO’d sign in a window or on a door, but I thought having it in a plant on the front porch/steps would just create even more fall fun.
If you really want to make the party exciting for those kiddos, do something fun with ice. I am NOT talking ice sculpture here, I am talking colored ice. It was so cute – I colored some water with ordinary food coloring to be orange (I thought about black and orange but no black for me). I put the colored water into ice cube trays and when they were frozen we had AWESOME orange ice cubes! Just a little tip to make your party over the top.
As always when having a party I needed a great “main” recipe. I wasn’t having the party for dinner, but I needed some yummy snacks. I of course had M&M’s®, SNICKERS®, TWIX®, SKITTLES®, STARBURST®, and LIFESAVERS® as well as some fun Halloween Cans of A&W, Sunkist® and Canada Dry. But, you know me I had to bake something. These cookies were SO EASY (have you found a theme yet? fun and easy?). I had them ready in a snap and other mom’s begging for the recipe. So here you go moms!
