My Easy Plan for College Care Packages

My Easy Plan for College Care Packages keeps me organized & ready to send items to my daughter in college. She'll love getting items form home regularly.

Recently we marked a big transition in our family.  We dropped our daughter and her stuff off at her chosen college. She’s our first child to go away to school, and we’re all still in an adjustment period. Her school is over 9 hours away from our home. With that long distance we won’t be traveling to visit her very often.  To ease this transition, I’ve decided to send monthly care packages. No matter how old your kids are, they love receiving mail! Immediately I began thinking of items to send that would make her happy along with snack items she enjoys at home. I also didn’t want her to worry about purchasing personal care items with her tight budget and limited shopping opportunities. My plan is to simply send a Priority Mail flat rate package to her once a month.  I’ve picked up a few empty Priority Mail flat rate packages to keep on hand.  Whatever I can fit into the box is what gets shipped off.

I have a small basket that I collect items in until I’m ready to ship a package off. The size of the basket is roughly the size of what the package can contain. By keeping items in one location it helps me stay organized and also see how much I’ve set aside.  When I’m ready to send, I simply put the items in the box and the basket is ready to fill again. Items that went into the box this time: assorted snacks, cookies, nail polish, nail files, drink mix, hair de-tangler, shaving gel and Schick® Hydro Silk disposable razors.

While shopping at my local Kroger store I picked up some of the snack items I sent in her package. My daughter is very particular when it comes to her food selections, I just know she’ll love receiving the items I’ve sent.  I strolled on over to the aisle with razors and picked up a package of Schick® Hydro Silk disposable razors. I chose these because she normally uses them when she’s at home. Even a simple touch of home may help while she’s making this transition to college life. Maybe next month I’ll throw in a few fun surprises that I find at Kroger, but this month it was all about making sure she has essentials such as Schick® Hydro Silk disposable razors and snacks to help her feel at home even 9 hours away.
