Crock Pot Apple Butter is the perfect recipe for harvest fresh apples. Use in a variety of recipes or on muffins or biscuits!
I have never made this before, but it turned out so delicious! It’s a perfect crock pot/slow cooker recipe since you really do put it in there and let it go! I was inspired by the recipe, but changed it just a bit. It really was SO easy. I stirred mine a couple of times during cooking, but it really wasn’t necessary – just me being nosy with my apples!
Your house will smell yummy all day! I couldn’t wait for mine to be done! It was delish! Want to make more yummy treats like Crock Pot Apple Butter? Check out:

Crock Pot Apple Butter
Ingredients
- 12 apples, peeled, cored, sliced and diced
- 1/2 C water
- 1/4 C brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp almond extract
Instructions
- Spray crock pot with non-stick cooking spray
- Place apples into crock pot and mix with sugar, cinnamon, and almond
- Pour water gently over
- Turn crock pot on low
- Let cook for 10-12 hours (you could definitely do this over night)

- Blend (I used my blender) until you get your desired consistency (I made mine smooth)
- Store in refrigerator or freeze

I am always up for easy recipes! I love the addition of the almond extract, I would not have thought to use that. This looks delicious!
Thanks for sharing at Wine’d Down Wednesday! I hope to see you again next week!
Heather

Heather
Thanks for coming over Miz Helen!
Anthea
Recipe looks fabulous but what would you suggest for oven setting if I don’t have a slow cooker or crock pot? Or would you do stove top?
Heather
Anthea – you could probably do it on the stove. Just very low and very slow!
Oven might work too? But I honestly just don’t know – I’d probably be more comfy doing it on the stove on the lowest setting on the smallest burner. Just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t burn!
Reese
What type of apples do you use?
Heather
Reese – it’s a matter of taste (in my opinion at least). I love gala’s which is what I used. I’ve also cooked/baked with Empires and Macintosh.
Laura
I will so be trying this later this week, however one question – have you tried it without the almond extract?
I try to avoid buying ingredients I don’t commonly use in other recipes so just wondering if I leave it out if the taste will change much.
Heather
Laura – no I haven’t because I LOVE the almond flavor 😉 I am sure you could try vanilla in there and it would still be good!

Have you tried canning this? I make all of our own jams and a few other things and I wonder how well this would do…..
Heather
ok so my dirty little secret…I am terrified to try canning 😉 So no I haven’t – but quite honestly? I think it would be GREAT! I just can’t tell you for sure 😉
