Overnight Crockpot Apple Pie Oatmeal

Overnight Crockpot Apple Pie Oatmeal
My oldest son loves oatmeal. He asks for it every day. I don’t keep the instant packets on hand and I don’t usually have enough time in the mornings to make him oatmeal on the stove top. I love my crockpot and have made overnight oats in there before but I decided to spice it up a bit :). It turned out delicious and everyone cleaned their bowls! It’s always so nice to wake up to a hot breakfast done already too!

Overnight Crockpot Apple Pie Oatmeal

Ingredients

  • 1 cup steel cut oats (yes, it has to be steel cut, rolled oats will get too mushy)
  • 2 cups apple juice
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4-1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 apples diced
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients in the crockpot the night before and cook on low for 8ish hours. I think mine cooked for 9 hours and it was perfect. If you're going to have it cook for longer than that, add a bit more water so it doesn't dry out. Enjoy!

  10. Roughy how many cups of cooked oatmeal will this make? I have 2 kiddos who would eat oatmeal all day, every day if I would let them. But I would hate to make too much and have to throw it out. Unless someone knows if you can freeze oatmeal? Thanks for this recipe!!!!!

  11. This is so perfect for back to school. Everyone is in a rush and having breakfast ready makes life easier. Thanks so much for sharing this with Foodie Friends Friday this week. P.S. I’m on my way to “Like” on FB.

  15. I’ve made oatmeal in the crockpot before, but never using milk (we’re dairy-free). Think it would be ok to use almond milk instead of cow’s milk?

  16. Looks so good! I will try this with my son real soon. Thanks!
