Dutch Apple Pie is the perfect fall dessert. Impress anyone you serve it to with it's amazing taste, be prepared they'll be asking for the recipe!

So, in Michigan (where I am from) everyone makes this. Every family has its own version, but Dutch Apple Pie is pretty popular. I didn’t realize until I made one of these in NJ (where I live now) that not everyone has their own Dutch Apple Recipe! So here I am sharing my family’s version!  Hope you like it – it’s one of my favorites.

Pie is one of my favorite things to make too – this recipe is definitely a winner – it’s simple to make but has a flavorful punch!  YUM

  1. Thank you! I love dutch apple pie and finding a recipe for it always ends up being a herculean effort. I can’t wait to try it out. DO you use homemade pie crust or a store bought crust?

    • If I’m being a “good” chef I use a home made 😉 if I want a pie in the oven in 15 minutes I use store bought – SHHH don’t tell! 😉

  2. This recipe sounds great! Have you had any luck/experience with freezing them? I came into an ABUNDANCE of apples yesterday and we can only eat some many pies 😉

    • Allie – I agree – lol 😉 I usually freeze it in the form of applesauce – and it’s delish! Other than that I have never frozen Apples 🙂

  3. Your pie looks delicious and I can’t wait to make it! I do have one question, though. In your instructions, you say to mix the apples with the flour, sugars, cinnamon and vanilla. There is no amount of flour listed in the pie ingredients. How much should there be?

This recipe came out yummy! Thank you!!

  5. This Dutch Apple Pie looks wonderful. I especially like that it has a crumble type of topping rather than pie crust. Pinning.

  6. I would love to try this recipe. Quick question. Do you use pure vanilla extract?

  7. has anyone else had a problem with the pie burning? I followed the recipe EXACTLY and there isn’t one part of the topping that didn’t burn.
