Tangy Air Fryer Korean BBQ Wings
Okay, okay before I start receiving emails I would like to begin this post by saying this. Ahem, this recipe is *inspired* by Korean BBQ flavors. As with so many recipes that I attempt, not all flavors will satisfy my family. If your family loves a more authentic recipe, I’d say this recipe might not be for you, but all the while these wings are delicious so give them a chance.
With that out of the way let me once again address my heartfelt love for my beloved air fryers! If I can use my air fryer I will, no doubt about it. I have two styles, a basket style, and an “oven” style. I used my oven style air fryer all summer long when we camped in our motorhome. I don’t have an oven in our motorhome, so anything that needed to be baked or cooked in an oven went into my air fryer.
When I’m at home I use my basket style air fryer almost daily. This is the style I used when I made my really SUPER popular Air Fryer Mini Meatloaf, if you haven’t made the air fryer meatloaf you must. Everyone loves it!
Today we’re making wings though. My husband is a huge fan of wings! To be honest, they just aren’t my thing. So when I make them I really make them since I don’t prepare them too often.
Tangy Air Fryer Korean BBQ Wings are great for Sunday snacking, game day noshing, or just a simple meal. My husband literally would gobble these up on a Thursday afternoon no problem. Be forewarned, you’ll need loads of napkins as they are saucy!
Now I will also say most of my recipes don’t have as many ingredients as this sauce does. Trust me in the fact that it is easy to make and you’ll love the flavors, don’t be intimidated.
Like I said at the beginning of this post, this is an “inspired” recipe and does not contain some of the authentic ingredients you possibly might expect in Korean BBQ. But hey, if you like delicious wings give this one a try!

Simple steps for making Tangy Air Fryer Korean BBQ Wings:
For the BBQ Sauce:
Start by making the sauce; In a large heavy saucepan, add all the ingredients and stir together until well blended. Bring to a boil, and turn heat to low. Allow sauce to simmer while you’re preparing the wings.
For the Wings:
In a medium-size bowl, add the egg, and milk, whisking together until blended. In another large bowl, add the flour. Set aside.
Place chicken wings on parchment paper. Sprinkle with garlic salt, seasoned salt, and pepper. Spray the bottom of the Air Fryer basket with olive oil (I use a pump spray).
Dip wings, one at a time, in the egg/milk mixture, then roll in the flour and repeat (dip again in egg/milk mixture – then roll in flour).
After the second dip, roll in flour and place the wings in the Air Fryer basket. Spray the wings with the olive oil.
Set air fryer temperature to 400° degrees for 10 minutes. Remove air fryer basket and turn wings, spraying lightly with olive oil. Cook in the air fryer for 10 additional minutes, checking wings every 3 minutes, making sure they are not getting too browned.
If they appear to be getting too brown, turn the temperature to 375°, and continue to cook. Remove the wings from the basket to a large bowl.
In a small bowl mix corn starch and just enough water to stir the corn starch until smooth. Add this mixture to the sauce, and turn the heat up to medium-high. Bring the sauce to a boil, stirring constantly, when the sauce boils and thickens, remove from heat. Stir sauce, and spoon over wings. Toss wings in sauce to coat. Place wings back in the air fryer for 1 minute. Remove wings to a plate, sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired, serving with additional sauce on the side.
