Leprechaun Bait Snack Mix is a holiday favorite perfect for St. Patrick’s Day. Kids love this easy-to-make treat and can help make it too.
Leprechaun Bait Snack Mix
When my younger kids started elementary school they began talking about how other kids were making Leprechaun traps before St. Patrick’s Day. I had to jump online and figure out what the heck they were describing. Low and behold, they were a thing. All kinds of creative examples were right before my eyes, and yet I wasn’t sold.
As parents we choose to skip the Elf on a Shelf hoopla, we choose not to put bunny footprints outside on Easter, you get the picture. We pick and choose what holiday extras we’re going to spend time on. Once I looked into Leprechaun traps I knew even my inner Irish self was going to say nope, nope, nope to this one too.
Now, that’s not to say that I didn’t want my kids to enjoy some fun on St. Patrick’s Day, I’m just not going to get crafty. Crafty isn’t my thing, so constructing a trap for a mischievous mythical creature was a hard pass. But the snacking part of this whole shenanigan, that’s more up my alley.
See, you are supposed to “bait” the trap, and that’s where Leprechaun Bait Snack Mix comes into play. Instead of leaving this goody for an unsuspecting pot of gold-seeking Leprechaun, we’re eating it ourselves.
Snack mixes are great munchy food. This one combines sweet, salty, and crunchy with cute shades of green ideal for holiday celebrations. It’s also simple enough that the kiddos can help make it too.
