This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Henry Ford Cancer Institute. All opinions are 100% mine.

Know your breast cancer risk by taking the Henry Ford Cancer Institute’s online Breast Cancer Risk Assessment today. It is easy and free!

I’m a mom to 4 daughters. Two are still young enough to play with their dolls, and the other two have either recently gotten married or are getting married in just a few months. I have a responsibility to not only my daughters but to my entire family and myself to be proactive about my health.

In regards to my daughters, I especially want them all to know how important it is to be aware of risks in regards to breast cancer. My goal is to raise informed and self-aware daughters, providing them with the information they need to always make good choices. This begins with me. It is imperative that I set a good example and know my risks for breast cancer.

I was shocked to learn that 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer in their lifetime. Did you know that your risk is greater if a relative on your mom’s or even your dad’s side of the family has a history of breast or ovarian cancer? I did not know this. Also, breast cancer can strike anyone, it doesn’t discriminate against age or gender.

I found the perfect way to take some action! The Henry Ford Cancer Institute is encouraging women to be proactive about their breast health by offering a free online Breast Cancer Risk Assessment. I decided to”talk the talk and walk the walk” so to speak and take the assessment for myself.

Simply visit the Breast Cancer Risk Assessment and answer some basic questions about your current health and fitness. Of course, there are questions about your family health history. The questions were very easy and I was done in a matter of a couple of minutes.

What happens next? The assessment will immediately generate a personalized report for you. I had mine emailed to me also. This assessment is comprehensive with information in Understanding Your Breast Cancer Risk & What You Can Do About It. If you are interested in sharing the results with your doctor, you can download the report too.

Conveniently right here in Southeast and South Central Michigan the Henry Ford Cancer Institute offers mammography locations. Having one of the nation’s leading breast cancer programs, it is equipped with specially trained breast radiologists. These radiologists read all mammograms and imaging results. The Henry Ford Cancer Institute also offers the most advanced technologies available to detect and diagnose breast cancer.

When to Get a Mammogram? Another interesting fact I discovered is that I’m in the age group that is recommended by Henry Ford to have a yearly mammogram, beginning at age 40. Even if you are of average risk for developing breast cancer.

If you are due for your mammogram, you can schedule an appointment online. Henry Ford Mammography and Breast Screening appointments can be conveniently scheduled during the day, evening and weekend hours.

Being informed about your risk and How to Prepare Mentally & Physically for a Mammogram is part of taking the proper steps in self-care. Conversations with our moms and even grandmothers are important and necessary in providing our health care professionals with a clear picture of our health history. This is the type of conversation I intend on continuing with my daughters, keeping them informed of my health.

Take the Henry Ford Cancer Institute’s free online Breast Cancer Risk Assessment today as part of your proactive measures for your life.

Such an important post for all women young and old. I never miss my annual mammograms and check ups even though I have no family history of cancer.

This sounds like such a good risk assessment to take, I think breast cancer is something we all need to speak about more and being able to take something like this is a great step forward.

I really need to go get my mammogram. I’ve put it off long enough and just need to do it. While cancer hasn’t been rampant in our family, with other autoimmune disorders, I know I should keep all preventative care up to date.

My grandmother on my mom’s side had breast cancer. I have long been aware that it raises my risk. Thanks for the reminders to take care of myself and be preemptive.

Everyone, please get your yearly mammogram if you are over 40 years of age. It could save your life. It only takes a few minutes once a year.

Many thanks for creating awareness about a free breast cancer risk assessment. One of my colleagues was examined last year with breast cancer. Unfortunately, she passed away as it was too late before it got diagnosed!

It is time for me to get another mammogram thanks for this reminder. Unfortunately, we had an elderly neighbor who died from breast cancer because she was too embarrassed to see a doctor.

When it comes to our health, it’s really important that we have the initiative. I think this assessment makes things easier for women. It’s good to make sure you’re checked at least once every year.
