Our youngest daughter Leightyn was only 18 months old when we brought our dog Wookie (rhymes with Cookie) into our home. It took her awhile to warm up to Wookie as she was just little herself. Gradually though we noticed a bond forming between Leightyn and Wookie that no one else in the family shared.

The two of them have somewhat of an understanding if you will, they spend their special time together which usually entails Leightyn cuddling with Wookie when she needs her the most. As the youngest child of 6, Leightyn has had to find her own special spot in our family, often she struggles with being heard and understood. Wookie is her Best Fur Friend, she has a calming effect on Leightyn and for that we are very appreciative.

Leightyn has now started preschool and has been given special responsibilities or “jobs” within her classroom. To tie into this personal growth we’ve decided to give her some “Wookie Jobs” at home. Simple tasks which help her to understand some of the many responsibilities that come along with pet ownership.

Wookie Jobs such as:

  • Giving her a clean blanket for her crate.
  • Filling her water bowl throughout the day.
  • Gathering her toys from around the house.
  • Giving her a PEDIGREE® DENTASTIX™ Dog Treat.

Leightyn takes her Wookie Jobs very seriously and rarely has to be reminded. And Wookie knows that her girl is taking extra special care of her BFF.

We enjoy giving back and helping our children appreciate the importance of doing so. An example of giving back can be as simple as purchasing PEDIGREE® products at Sam’s Club. How you may ask? During the month of October PEDIGREE® purchases at Sam’s Club will give a dog in need a bowl of food as part of their “You Buy. We Give” initiative. Doesn’t get much easier than that, right?

You are already shopping at Sam’s Club, why not pick up some PEDIGREE® and help out a dog in need? Both your pet and a dog in need are benefiting simply by purchasing a PEDIGREE® product, and there’s many products available at Sam’s Club to choose from.

Doesn’t it feel good to give? Helping our kids understand responsibilities as humans is part of parenting. Why not start at home with our furriest of friends and the PEDIGREE® “You Buy. We Give” initiative at Sam’s Club during the month of October? I think it’s a great place to start.

Whenever we get extra dog supplies, we donate to our local shelter. They are always in need of items for the pups in the shelter.

What an adorable dog! I don’t have any dogs, but I do have cats. I love to help out with the animal shelter when I can. I love animals!

Wow, this is a lovely cause. I am so sad when I see stray dogs on the streets, good to know about this.

You dog is so cute. My dogs liked pedigree dog food and the chew bones.

My youngest has grown up with our dogs too. I love to watch him interact with them.

Your fur baby is adorable. My buddy loves the Pedigree treats so I’ll have to pick some treats for him at Sams Club and help dogs in need in the process.

It’s heartbreaking to think about how many animals are in shelters. Great to see the things people do to take care of them.

We just bought a huge bag of Pedigree dog food for our two fur babies. I haven’t let my dogs tried this treat yet.
