It’s that time of year when the mind turns to romance no? I love just about anything romantic. Movies, Books, Songs (and yes even recipes). Love Parfaits (the recipe below – keep reading) and a great new Nicholas Sparks Movie? Count me complete. LOVE LOVE LOVE!
So I’m all about the romance right now. And the new Nicholas Sparks movie, The Choice, comes at the perfect time (In theaters February 5!). Also? It fits my husband and I (ok ok the movie is not ABOUT us but it does work). In the movie the main characters are brought together by their dogs…In my real life? My husband has told me one of the reasons he knew I was the one was that I instantly loved his dog. See? Sort of like real life!
In the new Nicholas Sparks movie, The Choice, like many of Nicholas Sparks books/movies, the action happens in coastal Carolina, and North Carolina plays a big part in the story. I used to live in North Carolina, and my husband and I? Dated, got engaged (more on that in a minute) and live in Coastal New Jersey. SEE? Almost the same! I’m dying to see this movie, I’ll be there opening night on February 5. I’ll be able to relate to it so much! (and the scenery is coastal Carolina? Some of my favorite ever).
My husband is a romantic at heart as well, although his romance always has a bit of humor. The best example is when we got engaged. It was right before Christmas and I was leaving to go to my family for the holiday. We had a date night set up to exchange our gifts. He showed up and gave me this big box (it was obviously not a ring box which is what I was hoping for). I opened the gift and there was Monopoly. um thanks sweetie? He said “What’s your favorite token? I have to be the car everytime we play.” I was like well maybe the thimble? He then went down on one knee (EEEKKK!!!!!) and said “I thought you’d say the ring.” Took out the ring box (FINALLY) and slipped it on my finger and asked me to marry him.
Ps – he’s mine ladies but he’s so awesome, he had already called my dad! LOVE HIM (still 13 years after our engagement I still am head over heels).
So to get us in a romantic movie mood, I wanted to make my husband a dessert he would fall in love with. He is a Banana and Chocolate kind of guy. So there comes Love Parfaits. It’s very simple to make, but my husband asked me for them again (ALREADY). Make these for your partner (or hey your kids – they are good) and go see the new Nicholas Sparks movie, The Choice. A date night made in heaven!
