DIY Graduation Gift Photo Memory Corkboard

That special time of year is approaching, graduation time! The rite of passage which is much anticipated and jubilantly celebrated. For me this graduation season is even more special as our daughter is graduating from senior high school. Nothing can truly prepare a parent for this time though, it is bittersweet but it is also a time to celebrate and look forward to great new beginnings for our offspring.

As my daughter prepares for graduation we’ve been reminiscing quite a bit, very hard not to. One minute you’re teaching them to tie their shoes and the next moment you are getting them ready to walk the stage for commencement. With all the celebrating, you are also prepping to send them off to college. My daughter has chosen to live in a dorm room and I knew I wanted to make her something special for her computer area. With a very basic cork board, I used some fun family pictures and created 3 dimensional edges that gave the cork board a pop of color and some friendly faces (okay, some funny faces too) from home. I also wanted my younger daughters to be able to help with this project. They chose pictures that they thought their sister would like, helped cut, glue and arrange. It made for a fun project that was easy and inexpensive.

You too can create your own version very easily with only a few simple steps.

• Items needed: cork board, photos, glue, scissors, foam board & adhesive squares.
• Cut photos as desired.
• Lay photos on foam board, trace around.  Cut inside traced marks, this will result in foam being slightly smaller thank photos.
• Glue photos to foam board pieces.
• Stack dried photos on top of one another to create shape you desire.
• Place adhesive backing on back of foam board.
• Attach photo collage to edge of cork board, press down to secure.
