Gameday feasting just got better with Coney Dog Nachos! A twist on a favorite Detroit area food made even better as nachos, simple and delicious!
Big game season is upon us and that means one thing….delicious food!!! Am I right? Nothing beats watching your favorite team giving it their all while partaking from a spread of amazing food and drinks. Football games are long and you need lots of sustenance to keep you going. Especially if you are hosting a football viewing party, you want lots of options and plenty of them.
Big game time for us usually means we’re in our home with some family and friends huddled around a TV. This year I thought it would be fun to introduce a “Detroit” themed dish into our big game spread (even though our beloved Lions didn’t make the playoffs). If you’ve ever been to the Detroit area you probably noticed an abundance of “Coney Island” type restaurants. There’s usually at least one of these diner type establishments in every small town, and multiple chains of them are scattered throughout the metro Detroit area. Coney Dogs are a Detroit staple, a grilled hot dog topped with “coney sauce” which is a form of chili without beans, next there’s some shredded cheese, diced onion, and finally yellow mustard. I grew up on them and so did the majority of metro Detroit residents for decades.
My thought was why not make Coney Dog Nachos? I used Mission® Tortilla Chip Strips as the basis for this recipe. Then I loaded them up with all the makings of a classic Detroit Coney Dog. YUM! Mission Tortilla Chip Strips are perfect for dipping and are gluten-free too. Plus they are made with only 4 simple ingredients.
Do you know what could make my Coney Dog Nachos even better? A Mission Party Kit that’s just perfect for your very own football viewing party! Aren’t parties just more fun with props and themed party items? Yes, they are!!!
