We’re sure enjoying summer and all it has to offer! Hardly an evening goes by that we’re not outdoors, either sitting on the patio, down by the lake or on the boat. This summer has proven to be a season of gatherings at our house. Our daughter graduated from high school in June. As soon as graduation came and went, the clock stated ticking down until all of her friends began departing for their intended universities. The first of those departures happened last week and we had an impromptu party with grilled hot dogs. Madison invited her usual gang of friends over and we grilled some Ball Park Park’s Finest hot dogs. As I was picking up beverages, side dishes and munchies, I purchased a couple of packages of Ball Park Park’s Finest hot dogs. As the kids (yes, young adults) gathered to hang out and of course eat, we fired up the grill and cooked both varieties of hot dogs. The smell drew everyone in and as soon as they were ready to be served they were quickly devoured. It warms my heart to see these kids gathering together, talking about the new adventures ahead of them. At the same time it is bittersweet as they are going different directions. Times like this, gathered around eating a meal together are precious.
As I look at my calendar, the days are ticking away until we drop Madison off at her campus. I foresee a few more of these wonderfully easy grillathons happening out on our patio. Whether it be 5 kids or 15, it won’t matter as I plan on keeping a few packages of Ball Park Park’s Finest hot dogs in our refrigerator ready for spur of the moment easy summer grilling parties. Our house is “that” house, the one that the kids converge onto and that is just fine with us. We can grill up some delicious hot dogs and let the kids enjoy their friendships.
