I was sent a copy of this book for a review, all opinions are 100% my own.

Encouraging a love for books at an early age, bookworms unite!

Terrance the Giraffe Book Review and Giveaway | Who Needs A Cape?

Our bookshelves are overflowing, always!  My kids love books, whether it be my teenager squirreled away in her room with multiple novels, my 6 year old who is just mastering her reading skills or my 3 year old who could sit for hours looking at her books…books are treasures at our house.  We just love them.

Each of my children have rather unique spellings of their names. Not such a bad thing unless you are interested in purchasing off the shelf items with names written on them, that will not happen.  Custom items that you are able to personalize are perfect for uniquely spelled names like my children have, so when I was offered a chance to review a personalized children’s book from KD Novelties, I knew my youngest would be the happy recipient.

Terrance & the Giraffe is a very sweet book, that highlights one of the things I mentioned above, being “different” isn’t a bad thing, Terrance the Giraffe Book Review and Giveaway | Who Needs A Cape?even it its just the spelling of your name.  Your child’s name appears throughout the story as they encourage Terrance through a troubling time when he is being teased for being “different”.  The essence of the story is one that kids can easily grasp at an early age, and is a lesson that they will take with them as they grow.  Helping my kids to see early on that everyone is unique in their own way is an awesome way to encourage them to be accepting of their peers.

The story is engaging, and something that we enjoyed was at the end of the book there are a couple of thought provoking questions.  These questions were easy enough for my 3 year old to understand and answer, but I was able to engage my 6 year old also and get her to chime in.

I was very pleased with the quality of the book, the illustrations, the overall story and the fact that my daughter felt extra special hearing her name repeated throughout.  When browsing the KD Novelties website, you’ll find an array of choices for both boys and girls in a variety of price ranges.  KD Novelties would love to share one of their personalized children’s books with one of our readers (up to a $12.95 value), be sure to enter the Rafflecopter giveaway below.  Good luck and happy reading!

We have two granddaughters – 5 and 1 – whose parents started reading to them before they were born. These books would be great for Christmas!
