Everyone knows Dawn is remarkable or cleaning dishes, but find out how useful Dawn can be in pre-treating laundry stains. You’ll be amazed.
Dawn is a product that you probably have in your kitchen, I know I do. Did you know though that you can use Dawn for more than just cleaning dirty dishes? You sure can! Sharing with you today one of those “life-hacks” that will help you in your everyday life.
Who needs multiple products when one amazing household product like Dawn can multi-task? Using Dawn as a laundry pre-treater is an awesome life-hack that will save you from: 1) tossing clothing that is too stained, 2) buying additional products and 3) convenience of grabbing the bottle and pre-treating immediately. Amazing what this product can do!
I found my bottle of Dawn to be useful for pre-treating stained laundry just last week. Have you ever had one of those days? You know the one…where everything, and I MEAN EVERYTHING just went wrong. From coffee-overflowing in my cup first thing in the morning to stepping on a spiky toy on the way to get a shower, yeah we’ve all been there. My day got a little messier as I was transferring that nights dinner leftovers to a plastic container to place into the refrigerator. I had made a gigantic pot of CHILI, yup a tomato filled dish that was saucy and oh so good! The problem occurred when the spoon I was using slipped out of the pan and KERSPLOOSH it landed in the plastic bowl splattering chili all over my shirt, it was a mess!
Luckily, I knew what to do, and that’s what I’m sharing with you today.
-
Apply Dawn directly to any cotton/polycotton fabric*, covering the entire stained area, and rub it in using your fingers.
-
Then wash it normally with Tide in your washing machine**.
-
Do not reapply Dawn to the same spot and wash again.
* For best results, use a little less than two teaspoons (9.5 mL) of Dawn in a top-loading washing machine – be sure not to use too much, and don’t use on delicate fabrics like silk. Spot test with a small drop in a less visible area to make sure the material will not be damaged.
** HE washing machines can be sensitive and cycle times may vary.

My worst has been spaghetti sauce on my favorite white blouse.

Oh Melissa, that would have been a bad one! UGH!

Spit up… it discolors some fabrics, and I’ve never been able to get those stains out. Like on darker colored clothes, the part that gets spit up on it ends up even darker… super weird.

MY worse stains are FOOD stains on the husband’s white T shirts. And on his sweatshirts, any color. He has a disgusting habit of eating in front of the TV, on the sofa… and he drops so much food on his chest.. I can’t make him sit at the table anymore. His clothes are a trial to me. I’m not getting all the grease stains out. I need to try dawn. I thought about it, now I know for sure

Grass stains from sports and oil stains are the worst!

Grass stains are just a part of being a parent, no fun are they? :-/

I finally came to the conclusion that Dawn cleans everything….except laundry. Now I’m having one of those “duh” moments when I realize, hey that Dawn could have probably gotten all that blood out of my clothes when I got bit by that dog. Blood is the worst thing to get out.

I do not understand this part of the instructions “ Do not reapply Dawn to the same spot and wash again.”
