Anyone else super excited that Halloween is just around the corner? We are not the family who enjoys the morbid Halloween festivities, we prefer the slightly spooky festivities.
My youngest kids enjoy the fun parts of Halloween, we stick with the cute cartoons, cutesy decorations, and family-friendly activities. Right now we’re debating over who will be what this Halloween as we pass by rows of costumes while shopping.
I personally enjoy getting our decorations out of storage every year. Each year I add a couple of new decorations that keep our collection of decor growing.
Between classroom parties and neighborhood parties, there are loads of opportunities available right up until October 31st to celebrate. And as much as candy is normally a part of Halloween parties, you’ll always find an abundance of other food too.
This year I’ve come up with a fun Halloween cake that’s perfect for parties. Spooky Spider Cake is not only a fun cake to look at, but a delicious cake to eat.
This isn’t a complicated cake to make, in fact, it is so simple my kids have helped me make it. And they certainly have enjoyed helping me decorate it.
Let me share with you how I prepared this cake by using Pillsbury™ Funfetti® Halloween Cake Mix. Mix and bake cake in a bundt pan. Next, I took Pillsbury™ Funfetti® Halloween Vanilla Flavored Frosting, I simply heated a small amount in the microwave and drizzled over the top of the cooled cake.
The frosting comes with fun Halloween shaped sprinkles right inside the lid and no cake is complete without sprinkles so onto the cake they went. Fun, right? What I like about the drizzle of frosting is that it gives the cake a nice topper but isn’t overloaded with frosting, just the right amount.
The fun and slightly spooky part are next! I had some “spider-shaped rings” in my decorations box, I thought they’d add just the right touch to finish off this cake.
Simply use a sharp knife and cut a tiny slit into the cake where you’ll be placing a ring. Push the circle portion of the ring into the slit to secure the ring to the cake. And you are DONE!
I had a plain old cake stand that I “spookified” with a plastic tablecloth cut to fit over the cake stand. It gave the regular old plate stand a fun Halloween appearance.
You can decorate around the cake stand with additional plastic spider rings. Please use caution when serving this cake, remove plastic spider rings when serving.
Now if you are wondering where I got the great Pillsbury™ Funfetti® Halloween Cake Mix and Pillsbury™ Funfetti® Halloween Vanilla Flavored Frosting, let me tell you. Right in the center aisle at your local Walmart, you’ll find the Bake Center!
As you can see my kids had a blast when I served them some Spooky Spider Cake! Don’t let their faces fool you, they enjoyed every last bite!!!
