Read about Our First Time Visiting Michigan’s Adventure Amusement Park. Our family had such a fun time riding the rides while enjoying family time.
Friends, I cannot wait to share with you all the fun we had on our first trip visiting Michigan’s Adventure amusement park! Yes, both my husband and myself are life-long Michiganders but neither of us had ever personally visited Michigan’s Adventure. We couldn’t resist taking our kids this year, as they were both of old enough to enjoy some rides and have some great family fun.
Our youngest girls are ages 4 and 8 and had never been to an amusement park before, and let me tell you they LOVED Michigan’s Adventure. I’m sure you’ll see from the smiles on their faces in all the pictures I’m sharing today. I even heard whispered quietly late that night in our hotel,”this was the best day of my life” from my 4-year-old. SUCCESS!
As soon as we announced to our girls that we were heading to Michigan’s Adventure they were excited. They’ve heard about it mind you from friends, yes even at their young ages word of mouth travels when there’s fun to be had. So both girls were super excited!
We immediately went online and hopped onto the Michigan’s Adventure website so they could see all the fun in store for them. Of course we then downloaded the free Michigan’s Adventure app which has a map, ride information and other fun features. Our drive to Michigan’s Adventure was a short 2.5 hours, the app was a fun way to pass some time since we were very anxious to arrive.
Did you know that Michigan’s Adventure is celebrating its 60th Anniversary? Did you also know that Michigan’s Adventure is the largest amusement park in Michigan, and that there’s a water park included in the ticket price? Yes, WildWater Adventure is Michigan’s Adventure amazing water park!
I will say that as soon as we entered Michigan’s Adventure my kids were ready to ride the rides, but first we had a bite to eat. Coasters is a fun place to enjoy a break, have a snack or an entire meal. We had mini corn dogs (they were pretty tasty) and some fries. And NOW they were ready to hit the rides!
There’s so many fun family rides to enjoy while at Michigan’s Adventure. My kids loved the rides that were their size, and rode most of them at least 2-3 times. My brave 8-year-old rode her very first roller coaster, Zach’s Zoomer and was hooked, we rode over and over, she LOVED it. Later in the day we found the Big Dipper coaster which is a great way to start young ones on their roller coaster adventures.
Now if your kids are older or you are a coaster enthusiast, there’s plenty of offerings, check out the Corkscrew, Shivering Timbers and the Thunderhawk, but be prepared to scream!
We opted not to visit WildWater Adventure on the day of our visit because of a minor health issue one of our girls was experiencing. But let me tell you it looked like SO much fun! Loads of water-filled things to do including the Funnel of Fear, Beach Party and Boogie Beach. You can even rent a Cabana for the day, how fun would that be?
There’s other fun water rides within Michigan’s Adventure too, we enjoyed Logger’s Run and it cooled us off just perfectly. If you are looking to get a bit more wet, try out Grand Rapids (there’s a bit of Michigan humor there folks) and Adventure Falls. You’ll even see a “Family Dryer” along the way so you can dry off if need be, my kids thought this was hilarious.
We found getting around the park itself, very easy. But to give our tootsies a rest we did enjoy a nice leisurely train ride aboard the Timbertown Railway, it was a nice rest. The conductor even let my daughter hop up onto her seat before we departed.
As part of the parks 60th Anniversary celebration Funland Farm is a new offering that you cannot miss. We had such a great time getting up close and personal with farm animals, alpacas, llamas and some bunnies too. It was a nice way to break up the day for the kids.
At the end of the day we stopped into my kids version of paradise, Snoopy Boutique. Yes, there’s merchandise of every size, shape and price range with everyone’s favorite group, The Peanuts characters. We shopped and shopped and shopped, the selection is huge. It was the perfect ending for my kids on a wonderful first visit to Michigan’s Adventure.
