So Lori is the one who showed me that Fruit Crisp could be made in the slow cooker. Yes, it’s not the same crispy crisp…but it didn’t matter. It was so delicious that I knew I had to try out a recipe of my own. I can’t believe for all of my love of slow cookers that I hadn’t done this before! I am getting used to making side dishes and desserts in the slow cooker. It’s not just for roasts any more friends!
I went to the Apple Orchard (hey New Jersey isn’t called the Garden State for nothing) and they had fresh beautiful peaches on top of really great cooking apples. I bought both and had Apple Peach Slow Cooker Crisp in mind the whole time. The only torturous part? Was waiting for the crisp to be done. I literally had it mixed together in the slow cooker as fast as I could peel and cut the fruit.
Fruit Crisp is such an easy dessert to make, and it’s a great way to get the flavor of fall. Putting it in the slow cooker? Was even better. My house smelled amazing for hours. Plus I set my slow cooker to warm when it was done cooking because we weren’t ready to eat it yet. We ate it warm and delicious.
Here’s the Link to Lori’s recipe that inspired the whole thing (it’s also a must make):
