Homemade Ranch dressing is a staple no house can do without, especially mine. The dry mix can be used on chicken, pork, or steak as a rub.   In my house there is one staple we must never under any circumstances run out of…….. Ranch dressing. My son Gus will eat just about anything with Ranch dressing. Steak, not until he has his ranch to dip it in. Chicken, pork, green beans, taco’s, the list is endless. Once upon a time my Ranch stockpile was depleted and we ran out. *Gasp* oh the horror! The poor boy would not eat his taquitos until he had his Ranch.

To the internet I went in search of something I could toss together that would resemble his beloved Ranch. The internet did not disappoint either, who knew there were soooo many ways you could make one simple dressing. Miracle of miracles I just so happened to have all the dry ingredients to make a Homemade Ranch dressing mix. So I tossed a big batch together mixed it with some sour cream and milk and Voila my boy was eating once again. Since then we have used the dry Ranch mix for loads of things and I have also added a few other ingredients to liven it up, but it is still pretty basic.

I think it tastes much much better than the store bought kind but Gus is not picky he will eat either so I keep the dry mix on hand just in case we run out of the other. So if you have a picky eater try Ranch, it goes great with almost anything.

  1. Awesome! Does it taste ok with fat free dairy? How long will it keep in fridge?

I haven’t tried it yet with fat free dairy but I imagine it should taste just fine. I keep mine for two weeks (if it lasts that long usually Gus eats it all before that) and I store mine in a mason jar. Keeps just fine! Just shake it up before each use and you are good to go 😀
