Baked Kale Chips

baked kale chips

It seems everywhere you look people are going on and on about the benefits of kale. I have also joined the kale bandwagon. When I bought the kale for my Spicy Kale Chorizo Soup I was unsure how many bunches to buy, so I bought two. Then I only used one bunch and I was not about to let this super food go to waste, so I looked to the interweb for ideas. I did not have to look far! Baked Kale chips were at the top of the list. Who doesn’t love chips? Mmmmmm! So I gave them a try. They did not disappoint. Added bonus is they are healthier for you than regular chips, they only take 20 minutes to make, and you can customize them by adding different spices. Beware baked kale chips are as addictive as regular chips!

Baked Kale Chips

  • 1 bunch kale
  • 2 Tbsp. melted butter
  • 1 tsp. sea salt

  1. Tear the kale off the stem into bite sized pieces. Wash and pat dry.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  3. In a large plastic bag add the kale. Pour the butter over the kale, close the bag and give it a couple of shakes to make sure all the kale is evenly coated.
  4. Cover a large baking sheet with parchment paper and pour kale out onto it. Sprinkle the kale with sea salt.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes. The edges of the kale will start to brown but don't let them burn.
  6. Let cool completely. Enjoy!

  1. I have got to try this, man they look so good!! Tweeting!!

  2. I LOVE these! I messed them up the first time I tried them–I used Olive Oil and too much of it. I’ll definitely have to try doing it with butter!

  3. I have wanted to make Kale chips for a long time… Maybe this will get me to do them.. Thanks for sharing on Foodie Friends Friday Party.

  4. Just wanted to let you know that I picked this recipe for my Foodie Friends Friday host favorite… Was hoping to make this but stuck in the Chicago airport after vacation.
