I love an extra spicy Mexican martini and finally decided to recreate what I have had in restaurants in the past. First, I needed to start with the tequila. You can use whichever peppers you choose, the spicier they are, the less time it will take!

My husband had so kindly offered to taste test for me, since I am not a fan of straight tequila. It took us five nights to achieve the spiciness we prefer from Sunday afternoon to Friday morning.

Pepper Infused Tequila

Ingredients

  • bottle of 100% agave tequila (I used 1.75 L)
  • 6 serrano peppers

Instructions

  1. Slice the peppers in half lengthwise and deseed.
  2. Put sliced peppers in a couple at a time.
  3. You may need to empty a little bit of tequila out to get all the peppers in.
  4. Taste every couple of days until you get the heat you desire.
  5. If you used peppers with more heat you may want to taste daily.
  6. When the tequila is to your liking strain it into a clean pitcher and then pour it back into the bottle with a funnel.
